Kashmir often alluded as Paradise on earth. Is it really something like that? Yes…..Indeed. Undoubtedly and unquestionably Kashmir is the paradise on earth. A dream valley amidst Great Himalayan and Pir Panjal mountain ranges known for its majestic beauty, charming simplicity, and great hospitality, always there to offer you scenic views of the beautiful nature. Besides being a favourite holiday destination, valley of Kashmir has lot to offer to its adventure lovers along with lustrous natural beauty. Trekking is one of the activities that valley offers to its adventure lovers. It has earned a massive acceptance in Kashmir since last decade. Among the important treks in Kashmir, the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is considered as one of the most wonderful treks in Kashmir. Although there are many treks to be done in Himalayas but comparatively it is always Kashmir Great Lakes trek which is most fascinating trek. The trek starts from Sonmarg (meadow of god).Here is the brief itinerary:
Trek from Sonmarg to Nichnai via Shekhdur.The trekking distance will be around 9kms and it will take up to 6 hours to reach Nichnai.Maximam altitude is 11,500 ft.
Nichnai to Vishnusar Lake via Nichnai Pass. The trekking distance approx. is 12 kms which will take up to 6 hours to reach Nichnai .Here you can also explore Kishnasar lake.Maximam altitude is 13,100 ft.
Vishnusar to Gadsar lake via Gadsar pass. The trekking distance is around 10 kms and will approx. take 5 hours to reach Gadsar lake.Maximam altitude is 13,800 ft.
Trek from Gadsar to Satsar. It is a distance of about12 kms which will take approx. take hours to reach satsar.Maximam elevation is 12,000ft.
Trek from Gadsar to Gangbal twin lakes. Distance approx. is 9kms and will take up to 5 hours to reach Gangbal.Maximam elevation is 11,500 ft.
Gangbal to Narang, distance of about 11kms and will take up to 6 hours to reach Narang which is at the maximum altitude of 7,450 ft. Narang is the end point of the trek and is accessible by road.
