 Yusmarg also known as ‘’the meadow of Jesus’’ situated in central Kashmiri’s Budgam district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Located approx. 47 kms to the south of Srinagar (summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir) lies a fascinating hill station Yusmarg. It is an alluring tourist spot, encompassed by the pine trees and snow dressed mountains which attracts a lot of tourists mostly locals of Kashmir. It is an ideal place to go for excursion or one day picnic.Yusmarg is one of the best example to prospect nature very closely. Lying in the lap of Pir Panjal mountain ranges Yusmarg offers you astonishing views of, valleys, meadows, stretchy grasslands and peaks. Yusmarg is the perfect example to discover the beauty of the southern part of the valley.

Origin of name
There is no historical background behind the origin of its name, however it is believed that Yusmarg was also known as ‘Roosmarg’-the meadow of deer. It was because the area was inhabited by wildlife particularly deer and with the passage of time Roosmarg became Yusmarg.
       It is also believed that Yusmarg got its name because once Jesus came here to visit Kashmir and stayed at Yusmarg, thereby giving it the name Yusmarg-The meadow of Jesus.
